Members Corner – The Benefits of Dry Fire Practice

The Benefits of Dry Firing
Dry firing is the act of firing your firearm without ammunition. This allows one to practice most aspects of shooting, without depleting your ammunition. Dry firing lets us practice our safe handling techniques.
First and foremost, always practice the FOUR rules of firearm safety.
Always treat every Firearm as though it is LOADED.
NEVER let the muzzle cover anything you’re not willing to destroy.
Keep your finger OFF the trigger until your sights are on target.
Be SURE of your target and what is behind it.
First ensure the firearm is unloaded by checking the magazine and chamber. Then leave all live rounds in a separate room, in a safe and secure location, then proceed to your dry fire area. Once in your dry fire area load some snap caps (dummy rounds for dry fire exercises) if you are using them, if not, ensure again that the magazine and chamber of your firearm are empty and place your magazine into your firearm. Now it’s time to dry fire. You can work on drawing from concealment, sight picture, firearm control, trigger pull, disengage, re-engage, re-holster, reloading (if using snap caps), clearing malfunctions, weak hand shooting. The list is endless. This is a great opportunity to hone your skills and safety practices. It will also allow you to become more accustomed to handling and operating your firearm, while building your confidence in doing so. When you are finished with your dry fire practice, remember to always unload the snap caps and store them in a place they will not get mixed up with your live rounds.

Nathan Fletcher made bad decisions, woke up the Mama Bears, and now his job is in jeopardy. When the district lines were redrawn, lots of people in La Mesa groaned when they found out Nathan Fletcher was their supervisor. Not Amy Reichert! Redistricting meant she could run for the Supervisor position and remove Fletcher from his throne! Restore Life, Liberty, & Love to San Diego
The #NotMeIE program is a mentor/mentee referral service run by women for women to help them:
Obtain firearms training
Get assistance in choosing and purchasing a firearm
Obtain a CCW
How does the program work?
A potential client can fill out the application for service on our website. Once received, the project manager reviews the application and assigns the client to an Ambassador. An Ambassador then contacts the client to begin the process of walking them through whatever their firearm needs are. After the client has been successfully helped, their case is closed, and the Ambassador is given a new client to work with. Some of our Ambassadors are also NRA certified trainers. They are very knowledgeable in all aspects of firearms training and purchasing. IEGO also offers an online CCW seminar once a month. Check the IEGO website for upcoming dates. If you are an experienced gun owner and are interested in becoming an Ambassador for the #NotMeIE program please reach out to Karla at [email protected]
