Town Hall: Fighting Crime and Protecting Yourself in South Riverside County
Sat Apr 29, 2023 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM PDT
26529 Jefferson Avenue, Murrieta CA
Crime is rising in South Riverside County – and concerned citizens are invited to a community Town Hall to understand why crime is increasing in our area and what we can do to stop it and keep our families and communities safe!
According to the California Department of Justice, in 2021 Riverside County had an alarmingly high rate of violent crime of 296.1 victims per 100,000 residents. According to Neighborhood Scout, when including property crimes, a Riverside County resident’s change of becoming a victor of either violent or property crime is one in 25!
Unfortunately, state politicians – and even some local politicians – are not only not responding to help combat rising crime, they are actively promoting policies to make our neighborhoods less safe!
We cannot sit idly by as crime rises in our community. We risk the situation getting too far out-of-control to stop it – or worse, we risk becoming victims ourselves.
Key Presentations at this Town Hall:
Crime Trends and Causes: Hear the latest on what types of crimes are happening in the community and why these crimes are on the rise (implementation of Prop 47, Prop 57, no bail policies, etc.)
Protecting Yourself: Know your self-defense and 2nd Amendment rights and why record numbers of Californians are buying their first gun – and responsibly learning how to safely store and use it
Mobilizing for Change: How we can fight back against CA politicians who are implementing dangerous policies to benefit criminals while simultaneously trying to undermine your 2nd Amendment rights to make it harder for you to protect yourself
This Town Hall is free for all attendees, and we will be hearing from public safety advocates and elected officials. Come with your comments, concerns and questions!

Blog: You’re Preparing for the Wrong Apocalypse
by: Sam Lichtman
Working behind the counter at a gun store, a big part of my job involved answering customers’ questions. With any type of product, prospective buyers always want to know what the best one is so that they can make informed decisions instead of making purchases they later regret. My coworkers and I always had good answers to the common questions: when asked what the best concealed carry pistol was, we’d show off the most popular compact and subcompact models; when asked about the best hunting rifles, we’d pull down the models most suited for taking common game animals in our area. One repeat question for which I never had a direct answer, though, was, “What’s the best gun for the apocalypse?” You see, the problem isn’t that I don’t have a good answer, it’s that I disagree with the premise of the question itself.
It is entirely reasonable to want the best hardware for any possible scenario, but the “apocalypse gun” question is the wrong one to ask. The kids raised on The Road Warrior and Escape from New York are now adults with the means to buy firearms, so when it comes time to prepare for the worst, they immediately think back to those dark fantasies from the silver screen. To anyone whose emergency preparedness plan is designed around a total societal collapse, I ask this: how likely is it, really? Throughout the entire history of the United States, it has been exceptionally rare for an entire city to become an uninhabitable, lawless wasteland. Even the most infamous cases of extreme civil unrest, like the 1992 L.A. riots, have been relatively brief. For anyone not already living in a dangerous area, attempting to leave home and travel elsewhere in the middle of a riot is far more dangerous than staying inside.

Become a #NotMeIE Ambassador
The #NotMeIE program is a mentor/mentee referral service run by women for women to help them:
Obtain firearms training
Get assistance in choosing and purchasing a firearm
Obtain a CCW
How does the program work?
A potential client can fill out the application for service on our website. Once received, the project manager reviews the application and assigns the client to an Ambassador. An Ambassador then contacts the client to begin the process of walking them through whatever their firearm needs are. After the client has been successfully helped, their case is closed, and the Ambassador is given a new client to work with. Some of our Ambassadors are also NRA certified trainers. They are very knowledgeable in all aspects of firearms training and purchasing. IEGO also offers an online CCW seminar once a month. Check the IEGO website for upcoming dates. If you are an experienced gun owner and are interested in becoming an Ambassador for the #NotMeIE program please reach out to Karla at karla@iegunowners.org
